Cleo was the 2nd wife of Issac Cooper and beloved stepmother of Rosie, Pearl & Sallie. This closeup hung on the wall in grandmother's home, next to the photo of her other mother, Mattie Wigley Cooper, who died young. Through the years, when grandmother would point to either photo, she would say, "That's my mother." As a child, I was puzzled that the two photos showed no likeness to each other. I was grown before I understood who Cleo was. Grandmother told me then, "Cleo was my stepmother, but I loved her like my mother. I never knew my own mother. She died when I was a baby."
