Obituary for Fred Fuchs (newspaper unknown) (11/10/1876-4/3/1951) "Fred Fuchs was born November 10, 1876, in Yorktown, Texas. He was baptized in his infancy and confirmed in the Lutheran Church in his youth. November 11, 1897, pastor J. Frehner married him to Wilhelmina Chollett of Shaws Bend. His occupation was farming. Eight children were born to him, 4 sons and 4 daughters, 2 of whom preceded him in death. Albert died in his early twenties and Lydia, Mrs. Nick Marsalia, in her early thirties. He is survived by his widow and 6 children: John Fuchs of Columbus; Mary, Mrs. Fritz Horndt of Columbus; Frieda, Mrs. Alvin Kansteiner of Weimar; Henry Fuchs of Ellinger; Hilda, Mrs. Alvin Horndt of Columbus and Willie Fuchs of Weimar; and also by 11 grand- children. He died after a lingering illness on April 3, 1951, and his body was buried in Shaws Bend cemetery after Christian funeral services in German in the home and in English in the church. We pray that God's Holy Spirit comfort the sorrowing and lonely widow and all other bereaved. A second obituary for Fred Fuchs (probably "The Colorado County Citizen", April 5, 1951 "Death came at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Colonial Rest home at Schulenburg, to Fred Fuchs, 74, lifelong resident of Shaw's Bend. "Funeral services will be under the direction of the Rev. G. Wolf at the family home at Shaw's Bend and later at the Shaw's Bend Lutheran church. Burial will be at Brune cemetery at Shaw's Bend under direction of Untermeyer Funeral home today at 2:30 p.m. "Mr. Fuchs, who was born Nov. 10, 1875, had been ill since last September. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Fred Chollett Fuchs. "Survivors include 3 sons, 3 daughters and 11 grandchildren. The sons are John and Henry Fuchs of Ellinger, and Willie Fuchs of Weimar. Daughters are Mrs. Alvin Horndt of Route 2, Columbus; Mrs. Fritz Horndt of Columbus; and Mrs. Alvin Kansteiner of Weimar. One son and one daughter preceded him in death. "Named as pallbearers are Herman Brune, W. H. Tietschert, Harry Hlinsky, Monroe Kuhn, Rudolph Schobel and Herman Balzer." Note: The full names given at birth for Fred and Minna Fuchs were "Friedrich Johann Herman Fuchs" and "Wilhelmine Chollett".
