Notes for Lucinda Prince: The following is taken from "The Prince Family" By Zora Lee Langston Atkinson: "This story was handed down in our family, that Lucy was engaged to be married and her lover was killed in the Civil War and no one could take his place. As I remember Aunt Lucy, she was kind and thoughtful of others, especially of the members of the family. She loved her nephews very (much), for they cared for her for more than 40 years. After I left Grandmother's home, we had long talks on many subjects. She said to me many times, "Zora, I hope you never get married." She was never bitter. Perhaps she thought it would be nice for me to take her place as the old maid of the family." |
