Jesse was my 3'rd great grandfather's brother. He married Mary Permelia Walker. They lived in the Roebuck area of Spartanburg and are buried there at Bethlehem Bapt. Church, Spartanburg County, SC. Jesse was promoted to 2nd Lieut. before being killed in battle during the last seige on Petersburg, VA, Dec. 5, 1864. His picture and coat were kept by Mary's sister and then sold years ago. They are now owned by a doctor in Tennessee, who I have corresponded with. I hope to, at sometime, have the coat and picture displayed in Spartanburg.
