Tench Carson Spencer, son of Wiliam Toney Spencer and Elizabeth Sammons, married Frances Ellen Miller, daughter of Tilman S. Miller and Sarah C. Wines. All of these families moved into Pickens County during the mid 1800's and lived around the Crosswell area of Easley, SC. They are all buried at George's Creek Bapt. Church, Pickens County, SC. Tench was a cabinet maker and is said to have also made wooden caskets. He is also pictured in a group picture at Crosswell School, but it is not known what affiliation he had with the school. He is spoken of very highly by his grandson, my great uncle Raymond L Pinson.
