This is the head of the creek, Sparks Creek. It ran through the land of Joseph Prince and the families of Putman, Barnett, Johnson, Ray and other Prince families. Joseph married Milly Putman a widow of Abel Putman and daughter of Isaac Barnett. Her first husband, Abel died and their three children are listed on several land transactions. The children later granted their rights to this land to Joseph Prince. I searched this creek from head to mouth and could not find any signs of a homesite, but a thunderstorm drove me away before finishing my search on each bank. I plan to return soon. The land is currently US Forest Land, Sumter National Forest.
