This medical bag is in the possession of Van Stevens of Ormond Beach, FL. My family visited them in June of 2004 and took this photo. The bag is in very good shape, considering it spent years in dry storage in an environment that was hostile to leather. The medical contents were intact and were very interesting to look at. Van is considering donating it to a place where the family can see it and it will be taken care of in the future. - Tyger River, Sparks Creek, Union, SC (281 KB)
This is the head of the creek, Sparks Creek. It ran through the land of Joseph Prince and the families of Putman, Barnett, Johnson, Ray and other Prince families. Joseph married Milly Putman a widow of Abel Putman and daughter of Isaac Barnett. Her first husband, Abel died and their three children are listed on several land transactions. The children later granted their rights to this land to Joseph Prince. I searched this creek from head to mouth and could not find any signs of a homesite, but a thunderstorm drove me away before finishing my search on each bank. I plan to return soon. The land is currently US Forest Land, Sumter National Forest. - Tench Carson Spencer, my 2'nd great grandfather (20 KB)

This site located at upper end of creek on a bluff. Not much left of the site, but a pile of rocks and bricks from the chimney and foundation. I found two bricks here that were scribed while wet. One had the initials "Wm" the other, "1842". I believe this may have been the home of Wm Murphy, but it's just speculation. I think it is too far upstream to be that of Joseph Prince. - Grace Gladys (Pinson) Prince, my grandmother (32 KB)

She is sitting at her grandfather's store and I believe this to have been taken at the time of his death in 1921, or her great grandmothers in 1917.
