Marriage Notes for MATTHEW PRITCHETT and REBECCA WRIGHT:
Matt and Becky met in July 1994, shortly after Becky moved from Walnut Creek, California, to Montgomery. Soon after she moved to Montgomery, Becky went to her high school reunion in Jackson, Alabama. At the reunion, she ran into a classmate, Tommy Walker, who had married another girl from Jackson named Sherrie Syphrit, and who lived in Montgomery, too. Sherrie and Becky became friends at the reunion. Following the reunion, Sherrie informed Becky that she wanted to "fix her up" on a date. Becky told her that she was not really interested until she was settled in her apartment and had gotten to know Montgomery a little better. Sherrie asked what Becky's "type" was, and Becky responded that she didn't really know, since she hadn't found the right person yet. Despite Becky's protests, Sherrie decided that she knew what was best. Sherrie asked Becky to come over to her house and show her how to make seafood gumbo, which Becky agreed to do. Since a pot of gumbo would feed a number of people, Sherrie also decided to invite a few people from work over to eat. When people began to arrive, Becky realized that the "few people" consisted of two other married couples and about a dozen single men. Sherrie had specifically asked a co-worker, Jimmy Lyon, to bring his best friend, whom Sherrie had met only twice before. Jimmy brought his friend Matt, and Becky was immediately smitten. After everyone else left, Becky said to Sherrie, "Do you remember asking me what my 'type' was? Matt is my type." Sherrie smiled and responded, "I know. Why do you think he was here??" Becky and Matt went on their first date a few weeks later, became engaged about a year after that, and were finally married.

Bridesmaids were Sally Wright Williams (matron of honor and sister of the bride), Laura Pritchett Gafford (sister of the groom), Julie Wright (cousin of the bride), Sherrie Syphrit Walker (see above) and Loretta Lamar (friend of the bride from law school). Groomsmen were Stringer Aubrey Pritchett (best man and father of the groom), Stringer Aubrey Pritchett, Jr. (brother of the groom), Jimmy Lyons (see above), Chris Coleman (friend of the groom) and Steve Thompson (friend of the groom).

Honeymoon was spent in New Orleans at the French Quarter Inn. Best meals were eaten at Commander's Palace (especially enjoyed the bread pudding souffle) and brunch at The Court of Two Sisters on Sunday.
