  • The Joseph (Prop) Berlow Family, 1900 (90 KB)
    Joseph Berlow was the youngest child of Betzalel Prop of Shkudvil. He changed his name to Berlowitz to leave Russia and later in this country shorten the name to Berlow. He had an older brother, Slieme Prop, who also changed his name to Solomon Berlow in this country. Joseph always lived in Midwest and is buried at Waldhiem Cemetery in Chicago while Solomon lived in the Boston Area and is buried at Agudas Achim / Chevra Mishnias Cemetery.
  • Shaya Mendel Aronovitz and Kalman Meyer Davidson (35 KB)
    Shaya Mendel and Dr. Kalman Davidzon were brothers, Shaya-Mendel was the oldest and Kalman was the youngest of 16 children. Dr. Kalman Davidson was one of the founders of Beth Israel Hospital of Boston. He was a leading advocate of providing quality medical treatment to the immigrate Jews of the Boston area at the turn of the century. Shaya Mendel lost all of his money which was in a Russian Bank at the time. Shaya and his wife, Marajasha Prop went to Israel where he died in 1917.
  • Jenta Prop Berlowitz 12/15/1817 - 1/7/1903 (18 KB)
    Jenta Prop married Israel Pincus Berlowitz and lived im Smalininkai, East Prussia. The family owned and operated an Inn in Smlininkiai until the Germans invaded the area in June of 1941. The last Berlowitz there was murdered in the street in front of the Inn.
