| The Prout family lived in Cornwall in the Michealstow, St. Teath and St. Breward areas until approximately 1885 employed as tin, copper miners and farm labourers. They migrated northward, travelling some 400 miles to Middlesbrough, Cleveland to find employment in the iron ore mines in Eston run by Bolkow and Vaughan. After the closure of these mines they found employment in the steel indrustry. Several members of the family imigrated to the United States to work and live in various mining areas there. I have only recently started my resaerch and have traced back to 1800 to a John Prout from Michealstow Any information would be appreciated, I am willing to share any information that I have. |
