Updated September 5, 2000

Researching the families of Kevin & Susan (Jones) Profitt.Susan is a descendant of Thomas & Jenny/Jennie (Sellards) Wiley.

Jenny Wiley, a Brief History
Jennie was abducted from her farm in Walker's Creek by a mixed band of Indians in the fall of 1789. Her husband Tom had gone east to a trading post on the morning of Oct. 1st.
That afternoon a Cherokee chief named Dull Knife and a Shawnee medicine man called Black Wolf led a half dozen Wyandot and a handful of natives from other nearby tribes to the Wiley cabin. There, they killed Jennie's half brother Andrew and three of her children, George, Elizabeth and Hezekiah.
Jennie and her surviving 15-month old son Adam, were taken hostage in an ordeal that lasted 11-months. Three days into the trip, Adam was killed by Dull Knife. Jennie was pregnant at the time of her abduction and 3-months after the baby boy was born, he too was killed at the hands of Dull Knife.
In the fall of 1790, Jennie managed to escape and return home.
