Mary Vanicelli has a note saying James entered the US by way of Boston on a ship named the Joseph James Clark on
August 31, 1839. She is unsure of her source.
Evelyn Brogan has info that leads her to believe James may have come from County Mayo, Parish of Attymass, Ireland.
In the 1870 Census there was a James Brogan in MO (not St. Louis) b about 1830 and was a cooper - could he be the same?
There is a Michael Brogan who could possibly be related to James - brother - they are 10 yrs apart, b. in Ire and lived in St. Lo. At one point, he lived one street away from James' s wife, Catherine. He died 24 Nov 1881 and is buried in Calvary - check family plot for more info.
