Marguerite Kakegaba8ik8e

Could this be our Margaret?

Her name appears on baptism for Marguerite Wendji-kijik age 2 years; baptised Sept . 26th, 1848; daughter of Pierre Wendji-kijik and Sagackosewekinebik, godparents were Augustine Cewoppittang and Marguerite Visina Mission at Pigeon River, Ontario

The death record for Marguerite is located at the Fort William records and she is recorded as the widow of Jean Baptiste Vesina; it is signed by A. Baudin (priest) This priest was in active duty from 1878 to 1886 at Wikwemikong, Manitoulin Island. We know from family history that the son, Jean Baptiste Visnaw Jr. had a fishery at Little Duck Island. More investigation needs to be done regarding the place of her death. The record appears to say that she is buried at the mission where the record was found, however, once again, family tradition states that a body was wrapped in ice and sent back to the family for burial.
