I am researching the history of the Pullar family. My great-great-grandfather, William Pullar, was born in Perth, Scotland in 1799. In about 1835 he immigrated to Quebec, Canada, where my great-grandfather, John Pullar was born in the town of Hemingford in 1840. At some point, probably in the 1840s or 50s they moved to New Hampton, Iowa. In 1859, William Pullar was granted US citizenship while living in Iowa. This is the last piece of information I have on him. John Pullar joined the Union Army in 1864 and was assigned to Company C of the 38th Iowa Infantry. He was discharged in Houston, Texas at the end of the Civil War in 1865. He died in Bellingham, Washington in 1920.
My grandfather, Frank Patrick Pullar was born in Kansas in 1875 and died in Bellingham, Washington in 1959. My father, Gordon R. Pullar was born near Blaine, Washington in 1907 and died in Mt. Vernon, Washington in 1987. I was born in Bellingham in 1944 and currently live in Anchorage, Alaska.

I am interested in finding any information on William Pullar after his 1859 citizenship. I don't know where or when he died. I am also very interested in learning more of his life and his ancestors in Scotland. Also, exactly when he left Scotland. I have learned that his father's name was John, but that's all I have.

I would also like to find more information on John Pullar in the Civil War, such as photos of his outfit, hopefully with him in them. I have copies of his military records from the National Archives.

Anyone who may be able to provide any information please e-mail me at pullar@alaska.net I am very willing to share any information I have, as well.

Thanks in advance for your help.
