Hamilton ancestor (Imogene's): William, in British Navy, in LA prior to 1820, b. in London, 1792; family narrative says "swam Mississippi" (left ship) and settled in Opelousas area.Hamilton (ancestor of Imogene's spouse, John W. Pulleine): Frederick, in Boston, Mass. 1827-28, b. in France, 1818. Progressed westward to MO then to KS; landowner in both these states. Frederick allegedly a stowaway, at age of 9, from France. He had a stroke at age 70+ and could only speak French afterwards; family had to have interprator. Homesteaded in Blue Valley, Marshall County, KS, in 1858. Imogene's Yawn ancestors: Pb. started out in Orangeburgh, SC; was in GA, then in AL in 1830's, then in MS, in 1860's; Cornelius Jordan Yawn, m. in Williamsburg, Covington, CO, MS in 1861. His parents are believed to be James Yawn and Louisa(e) Odum.John's ancestor: Bainbrick, originally Beinbrecht, Frederick Wilhelm, on ship's list in 1805, no clue as to where he came from, just said Prussia.Census had Prussia, too.Imogene had many ancestors in Republic of Texas (1836-1846) and prior to this period. Surnames are: Grigsby, Truett, Taylor, Traylor, Allen, McQueen, Crews and many others. Published a book about my grandparents, John William Truett, Priscilla Grigsby.
