2. MOSES HURT² HENDRICK (MOSES¹) was born 1832 in Leesville, Campbell County, VA, and died June 17, 1898 in Clarkton, Halifax County, VA. He married ELIZABETH ANNE (BETTY) EVANS November 28, 1855 in Campbell County, VA, daughter of DAVID EVANS and MARTHA ROBERTSON.

Notes for MOSES HURT HENDRICK:
Moses Hurt Hendrick served in the Confederate Army and was a Corporal in Company I, the 42nd Virginia Infantry. In one of the major battles in the Spotsylvannia area, Moses lost 2-3 fingers. He had a farm in Sherwill, near Concord, in Campbell County, VA with his wife, Betty, and their children until her death. The death must have troubled him so that he had to move from that house to a farm near Clarkton, Halifax County, VA. He moved there late in the planting season and had to hurry to plow the fields, build a barn and get ready for their first winter there. The farm grew tobacco, corn and other staples of farm life, including chickens and cows. He lived there until his death, when he was buried in the middle of one of his fields with no headstone, just a wooden fence around the grave. Clyde Andrew Hendrick said that he never knew his grandfather and grandmother, as they had both passed away before he was born.
