Flannery and Bridget Flannery, whoes postoffice address is Carbondale County of Lackawauna and State of Penna- persons of lawful age, who, being duly sworn, declares that we have no interest in the above named claim, and are not concerned in its prosecution, and we can further state in relation to said claim as follows: We were well and personally acquainted with the claimant in this case when he returned from the army in the fall of 1865, and we testify that he was then suffering from chronic diarrhoea, rheumatism and deafness of both ears, and continued to suffer with these disabilities during each and every year from that date up to 1887, or during our acquaintance with him. We know that he was greatly disabled for the performance of manual labor by reason of said disabilities. Our knowledge is derived from having known the claimant well and from often hearing him complain of said troubles. He suffered from pain in his arms, legs and back, and the chronic diarrhoea greatly debilitated him. We know he was very deaf, because in conversing with him one had to speak in a very loud tone in order for him to hear. She married Francis Joseph Loubsky 4 Jun 1904; born 6 Jan 1881 in Bohemia DOB may be 1873 (?); died 5 Oct 1939 in Chicago, Cook Co., IL 3:45am. "Granny, as we always called her, had six grandchildren: Donald Retchlag, Joan, John and Noreen Loubsky and Karen and Tom Ennenbach. She was a deeply religious woman who regularly said the rosary and raised African Violets of all varieties which were lovingly set on a radiator shelf next to a front window in Aunt Betty's home. We would visit often on Sundays and she would always give us butterscotch from a candy dish which was on the dining room table next to her rocking chair. She was a formidable woman even at the end of her life and would admonish my mother if she protested Granny giving us candy. She was the only one of my grandparents that I knew (two of which having died before my birth) and my memories of her are that she was caring and loving to Tom and myself. I know through my mother that she was more complicated but through my childhood memories (I was eight when she died), visiting Granny was a time of fun, good food and a visit with my wonderful cousins. The first time I saw my mother cry was at her wake when the casket was shut for the last time. My great respect for my mother and her extreme dignity signaled that this was indeed a momentous time for mom. I learned from both my grandmother and mother throughout my life that the mother-daughter relationship is a complex and often bittersweet one. This has translated into my relationship with my daughters, Melissa and Megan." (Reflections of Karen Pursley On her son Francis Joseph Loubsky's birth certificate (dob Jan 10, 1911) it states that she was 30 years old and that her occupation was a housewife and her husband was also 30 and his occupation was a printer.
