This is a record of twelve plus generations of the Talby/Taulbee family and their many branches. For the last Four Hundred plus
years, we have been in America. Like most families, there
were and are among us, saints, sinners, and the
in between, including; doctors, lawyers, farmers, moonshiners,
teachers, ministers, and soldiers. The blood of one of our family remains a dark blotch on the steps of our nations' capitol. Yes, a shooting, hints of a scandal, revenge and victory. All of this
is part of our history and our heritage.
As with most families, the name has been spelled many ways: TOLBY, TALBY, TOLBEE, TALBEE, TOLBIE, TALBIE, TAULBY, TAYLBYE, AND TAULBEE, no matter how you spell it , it's all the same family.
We arrived here just after the Winthrop Fleet in the early 1630's. We found the family of John Taylbye in Salem, Massachusetts in 1635. After the tragedy of Dorothy, his wife, John was excommunicated from the church and died in January, 1645. His family moved on to other parts of New England. Son Stephen was a mariner, he captained the ship Adventure, which sailed between Boston and London. It is from there we started, so let us begin.
