He married (1) MARY MAGDALENA DAGUE Abt. 1806, daughter of MICHAEL DAGUE and MARGARET SWINEHART. She was born Abt. 1787 in Pennsylvania, and died Abt. 1824 in Stark Co., Ohio. Notes for J
OHN EBI(4):
John Eby(4), the eldest son of David Davis Eby(3), settled near Canton, Ohio, in 1807, several years ahead of his father. He was one of the pioneer school masters of that section. He was married a second time and had a family of seventeen children. Of the other members of John Eby(4)'s family there is but little known. They are scattered throughout the Western and Southern States. "The History of the Eby Family" - Ezra E. Eby - 1889 pg.. 53-4

Michael J. Eby has him born in Virginia.
Carole Schetter has him dying in Mottville, Michigan

I have found out that John Ebi DID NOT DIE IN MOTTVILLE nor was he buried there. I asked the sexton AND the county person who is in charge of all of the cemeteries and she sent me to James Culp, one of the "kids" that I went to High School with! I called him and left a message then called him back about a week later and his wife answered the phone. She told me that he had searched the Thompson Cemetery records AND the Mottville Township Cemetery records and could not find anything even close to John. Therefore, I do think that he died in Ohio and was buried there. David M. Eby

Notes for M
ARY MAGDALENA DAGUE:
There is some question that her name may have been Magdalena Dague, sister of Margaret Dague married to John's brother Henry. Or perhaps Magdalena Tate and Magdalena Dague are two different women.

The name has been spelled TATE before--also TAGUE, DAGE, TAGE,
and the immigrant spelling was DEEG. The T's and D's in German can
cause some real problems. - Carole Schetter

AVID EBI(4):
In 1807 he, in company with his elder brother John, went to Stark County, Ohio, where he took up a piece of land upon which he erected a log cabin. Early in the year 1808 he married to Catharine Leezer, when they commenced house-keeping in the log cabin erected the previous year. Their home was situated on the Harrisburg Road, five miles north-east of Canton. Their nearest neighbours, for the first few years, were nearly three miles distant, one on what is now the Menegay and the other on what is now the Harmon farm. Old David Eby(4) spent his life on the farm he cleared up. He died in 1861 respected by all who knew him. "The History of the Eby Family" - Ezra E. Eby - 1889 pg.. 54
