Paul R. Foster, 79, died at 8:01 PM Monday August 12, 1991 in the emergency room at Community Hospital in Williamsport.

Born and raised in Shawnee Township, Fountain County, he graduated from Attica High School and Canterbury School of Drama in Chicago in 1936. He then became a member of the Lake Shore Theater in Westford, Mass. and toured the United States with Leslie Howard production of Hamlet, which was directed by John Houseman. After the tour he went to New York and played Julius Caesar under the direction of Orson Wells. He played the apprentice in Shoemaker's Holiday and was a member of the Mercury Theater. In 1938 he returned to Shawnee Township and joined his father, J. Lee Foster, in partnership in the family farm, where he remained.
On December 4, 1941, he married Marjory McKinney east of Newtown and she survives. The family had an early celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary on July 27. Mr. Foster was a member of Attica First Methodist Church. He had worked on several committees, was chairman of the church board, Lay Witness Weekend and Telecommunication drive for new members and was instrumental in starting the early worship service. He had served on the board of trustees at the Methodist Wesley Manor in Frankfort and was a member of the Lafayette District Council on Ministries. He was chairman of the Fountain County History Book published in 1983 had served as president of the Fountain County Historical Society. For several years he was the head of the Christian Overseas Program (CROP) in Fountain County. He was founder and chairman of the Fountain County 4-H Foundation, which has raised money for improvement and repair of the 4-H grounds and buildings. Mr. Foster was a member of the Fountain County Purdue Ag Alumni Association, and had served as President. He also was active in the state association, serving on the board of directors for five years, and was vice president of the class of '34 Purdue Alumni. He was a charter member of the Musical Landmarks Foundation of Fountain County.
Also surviving are two sons, Colin Foster of Route 1, Attica, and Timothy Foster of Scottsdale, Arizona; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Priscella) Davis of Route 1, Attica, and Mrs. Robert (Suzanne) Smoke of San Francisco; a brother, Donald Lee Foster of Bradenton, Florida; and a sister, Mrs. F.A. (Kathleen) Ford of Houston, Texas.
