Friedrich Raatz, his wife Caroline, and their three young daughters, Caroline, Augusta and Theodora immigrated about July 1854. The first American born child was Herman, born May 27, 1855 in the 3rd Ward, City of Oshkosh. Friedrich purchased 40 acres of land in section 14 of the Town of Wolf River on April 8, 1856. Bertha and Frederick were born shortly after the family had settled on their farm in Zittau, in the Town of Wolf River, Winnebago Co., WI.
