After many years in lower courts, suit went ti Ala. Supreme Court for final decision. George testifies at various times throughout suit. Many facts and dates about family come from suit testimony by various family members.

Typewritten copy indicates signature of Malachi Ford, Ordinary for the Colleton District. The document is dated Nov. 2, 1827, but no volume and page number are indicated. The final certification was made June 22, 1830.

55. Bill of Complaint, April, 1849, Lowndes County, Als., Exhibit "D", Cites purchase of slave and child which had been originally contracted to John Givhan for $450. John failed to pay as agreed and Mary bought them for her own use. Job Philip Givhan, as executor of his father's will, sold the slaves according to instructions in the will. When he signed the bill of sale November 30, 1818, John was evidently still alive.
