This search is a tribute to my father, the late, Sgt. Herbert A. Bible, Jr., retired from the Dallas Police Department and a decorated U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII. It is my goal to find the source of the name Bible somewhere in our Irish ancestry. As I research my father's name, I am also compiling as much information as I can on my mother's family. Her maiden name is Dollar and her mother's maiden name was Carlisle. I owe a debt of thanks to one of her cousins for sharing all of his research on the Carlisle's with me although, I don't have it all loaded on my computer yet. I am also trying to find as much information as I can on my husband's German ancestry. Since he came here as a very young child and his parents are deceased this is no easy task. His birth father, Hubert Butzen, was not part of his life after he came to the U.S. and was adopted by his mother's second husband, but I'm up for the challenge. His mother's maiden name was Tafelski. The fact that Dieter's grandfather was a Polish immigrant to Germany caused some problems for his family when the Nazi's came into power. They were forced to move back to Poland because the father was Polish, then the Polish government made them move back to Germany because his wife was German and all their kids had been born in Germany and were German citizens. If there are any members of the Butzen family who read this and would be willing to help me, please contact me by email.
