It is said that he built the first threshing machine in northern Ark. and that Henry Ford tried to by it. . it was later burned in the barn in which it was built. the barn was a 2 story building. Horsepower was applied on the ground level, while on the 2nd floor the cylinders stripped the grainheads and removed the grain. the grain ran down to the ground level and was carried back up to be poured down again for the wind to blow the shaft from the grain. In later years Theodrick lost the use of his mind at times ,altho at other times he could still do good work.he could not be depended on to look out for himself or his family. later in his illiness an abcess in his head broke .He never regained his sense of bAlance.and was never able to do business agai and became a ward of his family. Later in his illiness he became so violent that he was unsafe to be near the younger children and would sometimes beat them with great force. His Son,MIKe being about grown, built a pen in which they would lock their father until he would calm down. . he learned to go into the pen when he felt a spell coming on . It was this condition that was the background for the ease in which he was lured away from home and killed by bushwackers during the civil War. He was a southern Symathizer . he was shot from a boat and dumped into the white river in Ark in mar 1865. Some women who were washing in the river discovered the body.. it was taken from the rivr ,rolled in a blanket and buried near by.
