The George Raistrick home page

I am doing research on the name RAISTRICK. I know this name started in the town called RASTRICK in Yorkshire England.
If ANY of you people have ANYBODY with the surname RAISTRICK in your family trees PLEASE send your details to me & i might be able to help you.

I've got lots of familys with the name Raistrick so if you send me your details i might be able to see where we link up.

I have a copy of all the Raistricks [ also different spelling of same] in the 1881 census for all of England so if you want me to look up for you [free] send me an email.

I've traced my people to a small village called Baildon [near Bradford]in Yorkshire England.
The earliest record [so far]on the Baildon church records is when George Padget married Grace Raistrick in feb. 1666. I'm sure she had some brothers & I think they are my relations.

I traced my relations back to when John Raistrick married Mary Fairbank on the 3rd of July 1748. they had 2 sons William born May 1749 & John [not sure of the date]
William married Mary Hutton [born Oct 1748] on the 21st of Oct 1770 at the Otley church.
They had 2 boys John born 1771 & william born July 1773.
William died just before his second son William was christioned leaving Mary with 2 small children to bring up.

As I have a record of Mary Raistrick marring a Abraham Hartley om the 3rd of Nov 1776, I'm sure it is her as when William her youngest son got married on the 15th of May 1796 in Baildon : the witnessess where John & William Hartley....his step brothers??
I have now received a message saying that a Mary Hartley was buryed on the 14th of Jan 1793 aged 44 years. As this matches the age of ancestor I'm sure this is my Mary Hutton.

I found in my research that most of my people were weavers,in the early times hand & later as England went through the "Industrial Revolution" power loom weavers.

My family came to Australia in Jan. 1928
