| I am researching the history of the Railton family in Canada. Although there appears to be at least two Railton families in Canada (who are most likely related), I am mainly researching the descendants of Richard Railton. Richard Railton was born in Yorkshire, England in 1826. Once in Canada, Richard married Sarah Ann Steele (born in 1833)of Richmond Hill, Ontario. Richard and Sarah Ann initially settled on a 50-acre farm near Jarvis-Walpole Township. They then moved to a 100-acre farm where they had several children. Prior to 1871, the Railton family moved to a 200-acre farm located in Gainsborough Township. In 1910, Richard died. Sarah died in 1910 or 1911.
