| The purpose of this home page is to distribute and collect information concerning the various Rösli families in the U.S. and abroad. In the U.S., the original ancestor was Hans Conradt Roesli, born Sept. 12, 1667 in Switzerland, married Barbara Egg, and came to the U.S. with only one son Hans Conrad Roesli on February 7, 1739, landing in Philidelphia harbor. He settled in Northampton County, eastern Pennslvania. Our branch of the Raisleys moved from Northampton to Butler County, western PA in the mid 1800s. Various known spellings are: the original Rösli, Roesli (ö is equivalent to oe), Raesli, Raesly, Racely, Rasely, Rasley, Raisley, Raiseley, and Raisly. Rösli relatives currently live in Winterthur, Switzerland, northeast of Zurich. I have met with them several times (wonderful people) and have a fair bit of history of the Röslis in Switzerland, but no direct link to Hans Conradt. I even have a photo or the Rösli coat-of-arms, taken from the ceramic tile in a Rösli restaurant in Seen, near Winterthur. I am willing and anxious to trade information with anyone interested. |
