Hello everyone,I am tracing my "Family Tree" on the "Rakes" side back as far as humanly possible, hopefully all the way back to the early years in "Wales,England" where it all begins. My great grandfather was "Roscoe Rakes" he moved along with his brother "Richard Rakes" from "Virginia" to "Illinois" after they both served in "World War One".Roscoe's father was"Israel G.Rakes","Israel's father was"Richard R. Rakes, and Richard's father was "Samual Jackson Rakes".That is as far back as I've tracked so far.If anyone has anything to add or to help this project along, please let me know.I would greatly appreciate any futher connections of kinship or any information on anyone in this "Rakes Family Line".Thank you .and have a great day, Josh

  • "The Rakes Coat Of Arms" (71 KB)
"Coat of Arms" were issued to and registered for individuals.Under most heraldic rules, only first sons of first sons of the recipient of a Coat of Arms may legally bear their ancestor's arms.Younger sons may use a version of their father's arms, but the rules of heraldry say that they must be "differenced" somewhat. These colorful identifications became as important as the individual's name, and were displayed with great pride.
  • "The Heraldic Lion" (32 KB)
    "Lion Rampant"
