William Sale (- 1744) was born in Essex County, Virginia, and married
Hannah Jones. This family probably resided in Caroline County during the
1700's because Hannah Sale was the Exec. or Adm. of William Sale, decedent
in 1744, in Caroline County, Virginia. After William's death, Hannah
married a Blackbourne. In fact, there were numerous members of the Sale
Family in Carolina County, Virginia during mid to late 1700's--Anthony,
Hannah, James, John, Leonard, Mary, Molly, Polly, Richard, Robert, Samuel,

Thomas Parks, our ancestor, was the son of Thomas Parks. the progenitor of our Parks in
America. He was born 1670 in Old Rappahonock County, Virginia.Thomas Parks married the daughter of Simon Miller. He was a "Schoolmaster" while a resident of Essex County, in 1693, Simon Miller deeded him land, as a gift-lifetime for his service in Richmond County, Virginia. After his death possession reverted back to Simon Miller or heirs or assigns at death.
In 1728 Thomas, Sr. had leased land from Alexander Spotswood in Spotsylvania and shortly thereafter had bought 380 acres of land in Orange County. It was from this location that he moved along with his family before 1750 to Albemarle County.
Thomas Parks, Sr. of Ballengers Mountain, wrote his will in 1752; this date is probably indicative that he was getting quite old by then, stating in the will "being very weak in body, but perfect Sence and memory--".However, his death did not occur until early 1761; the will was probated in Albemarle County, March 11, 1761.There is no mention of a living wife even in 1752; perhaps she had died back in Orange County, prior to the move west.
His will reads: In the Name of God Amen. Thomas Parks of Ballengers Mountain in Albemarle County being very weak in bodily constitution, but in perfect sence and memory considering ther perils and Dangers of this transiting life and to avoid future strife and controversy, I do make and constitute this my last Will and Testament. First I do commit my body to the grave and my soul unto God who gave it and for many cares and consideration, I do bequeath all my Worldy stock and substance unto my beloved son Thomas Parks, likewise I do make and constitute him to be my sole heir and executor. Secondly I doth leave unto my son John Parks an English Shilling. Thirdly I doth leave unto my son Sam'l Parks an English Shilling. Fourth I doth leave unto my son Charles Parks an English Shill. Fifthly I doth leave unto my daughter Martha Russel, otherwise Parks an English Shill. Sixthly I doth leave my daughter Mary Bon an English shill. Seventhly I doth leave unto my daughter Elizabeth Hutchins an English Shill. as witness my hand this Twenty Fourth of February and in this year of our Lord God One Thousand seven Hundred and Fifty two.
