Mrs. East lived in the big house.She bought me dresses and fed us.She fixed us lunch boxes everyday.We played house in her yard.

Soaks - break a biscuit in 1/2 and put sugar on it and pour creamy coffee over the biscuit. creamy coffee made by putting a heaping spoon of instant coffee, 2 tsp. heaping, powdered creamer and 1/2 cup water, mix and pour over biscuit.
take ssp of cream/coffee and dissolve 2 aspirins in it and take her aspirins that way.
made own soap - lye soap- and used it for everything.
Baths on Saturday nights in big tub.Start with youngest.Betty fussed - didn't want last bath, because she "knew" the others had peed in the water, because she did!!!!
used leftover biscuit dough, roll out on floured board, sprinkle area with sugar cinnamon, roll up small section, spread with butter, sugar and cinnamon.roll and slice in 3/4 inch slices, and put in dish and top with milk or cream and bake.Made a custard like sauce with the rolls.
Uncle Ocie and Aunt Floy - she would make BIG pans of biscuits with none left over.
Betty ate only chicken, didn't like meat.
On some Sundays, Mom, Nanny, would fix chicken and dumplings, homemade yeast rolls, and whatever else available.
Nanny took Betty to the drug store for a permanent, because Betty "just had to have curls!!!" Cost a lot,fried it. rolled it and hooked to electrodes.
Nanny's last words:I'm comming Peggy ( or Patti).No one seems to know who that was.

Religion: Dr. Cobb or Kobb, took us to church.He bought our clothes and shoes. Took us to movies and bought us popcorn.
