The Ratekin Family, with earliest American members arriving in the colony of Pennsylvania from Scotland through Ireland in the early 1700's, moved to Virginia, then Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri and Iowa and even California by the late 1800's. Later generations have spread themselves over most of the states including New York,Florida, the Dakotas, Kansas, Colorado, Montana, and a large contingent from different branches of the family in California.
Bruce Ratekin of Columbus, Ohio has carried out much of the recent genealogical searching that has resulted in the Ratekin tree structure as known today. The greatest remaining mystery is the point of origin of the three or four original American Ratekin brothers that arrived in Pennsylvania some time before 1730. Bruce and others are continuing in that quest. Any suggestions for making that link would be sincerely appreciated.
