Cloyd Rawls is first found on the 1850 Chickasaw County, Mississippi, Census living in the household of John and Francis Goolsby with his wife Louisa and 2 older children, Frances and William. He came to Arkansas in either late 1857 or early 1858, settling first in the part of Jefferson that is now Grant County. He moved to Bradley, now Cleveland County in 1860. On May 12, 1862, Cloyd enlisted in Co. D Arkansas Infantry; he died later that same year of wounds suffered in Battle. Cloyd is Joe's great-grandfather. Many of his descendants still live in Cleveland County. Our stumbling block has been in trying to document Cloyd's parents or grandparents and any brothers and sisters. |
