xiii.   Matthew Clay, born 1820; died 1885; married Mary Jane Butler 01 August 1845 in Johnson Co., KY; born Abt. 1820.
  Notes for Matthew Clay:
[Source=1943 Chart THE COLONIAL CLAY'S OF VIRGINIA AND SOME OF THEIR DESCENDANTS~1443-1943]: Source of names of Matthew Clay's children.

[Source=Hunington Press Observer, Treesearching by Doris C. Miller]: Matthew Clay and Mary Jane Butler had only one child. He may have had a previous wife, since this is kind of old for Jordan and Mary to have had a child. Also, since the book Vital Statistics of Johnson Co. says that the Matthew that married Lucinda Sturgill, was the son of Matthew, then I have listed them that way. It may not be correct, and Lucinda, may be the second wife of Matthew Senior. Also, I wonder if this Lucinda Sturgill is the Lucinda Clay, daughter of Jane, that married Blackburn Sturgeon/Sturgill?

  Notes for Mary Jane Butler:
[Source=Hunington Press Observer, Treesearching by Doris C. Miller]: Matthew Clay and Mary Jane Butler had only one child.
