Readers and Stirlings

READERS: This is my family. My great-great gparents were Jonathan Reader and Emily Frost from the Burton-on-Trent area of England who moved to Yorkshire in the 1900s. My paternal grandmother was Ann Isabella Bramley of Harrogate. On my mother's side my great-great grandparents were George Lygo of Nottingham and Kate McGinnis of Ireland. My wife's family are Howards and Chaplins of Southern England, Robertsons, Crombies, Campbells, Christies and McQueens( of Glasgow and Falkirk)and McKirdys and Lyles of Bute. Any information will be much appreciated and I will gladly share what I have. I am particularly interested in the McGinnis ( McGuiness) and McKirdy connections.

STIRLINGS: As a historian of technology I have long been interested ( since 1976) in the family of the Rev. Dr Robert Stirling, the inventor of the Stirling Engine and the father of the great Victorian Railway engineer, Patrick Stirling. I have been able to trace the family as far back as 1665 to Robert of Glassingal in Dunblane, Perth, Scotland. They were originally it appears of the McGregor Clan. I have a general Stirling database containing about 18,000 of this and other Stirling families and I am happy to share genealogical and historical information on these very interesting families.
