Anna Mae Knnedy was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Albert Leo Kennedy and Edna DuBois.
She entered the Franciscan Si

sters of Christian Charity in 1938 at Manitowoc, Wisconsin
August 15, 1945.

She began her career as an elementary and junior high school teacher. Later on she became
a college professor. She was academic dean at Silver Lake College (formerly Holy Family
college) from 1960 to 1970 when she became the college's president.

After retiring at Silver Lake she became a senior director of Human Concerns for the diocese and went on to be director of Education and Spiritual Development and director of diocesan Programs and Services.

Sister Anne was a graduate

of Silver Lake (then Holy Family) College. She held a master's
degree in education and a doctorate in high education administration from St. Louis University.

When Anna Mae first graduated from Silver Lake she was called Sister Mary St. Mel. Later on the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity discarded their habits for black skirts, white blouses
and a black cap.
