They began housekeeping on a farm west of Creston, Iowa where their son Randall was born. From there they lived on other farms in Spaulding Township during which time Edan and Ruby were born. In 1905 they moved to the Millard Peterson farm where Clinton Lewtelles was born. In 1913 they moved to their own farm in Section 16 of Spaulding township and lived there until after Berton's death in 1928. Later, Mana went to live with her ailing mother, Mrs. Millard Peterson at 807 North Sycamore and purchased the home in 1940.
