The Redmond's (Redman's), Bell's, Tankard's & Brown's
On my Father’s side;
I am searching our ancestors and descendants of Moses Redman & Rebecca Dunn, who along with their 13 children and Moses’ brother/step-brother John & his wife Roseanna Dunn along with their sister Rebecca Redman, emigrated from County Antrim, Northern Ireland in 1818 to North America. Once in North America, the 13 children each took on different variations of the last name Redman / Readman / Readmon / Redmon / Redmond.
They were ship wrecked off Nova Scotia in October 1818. Some of the folks stayed in Nova Scotia, the rest went to many corners of Canada and the USA; North Carolina, Nova Scotia, Massachusetts, New York, Washington, the Yukon, Alberta, Alaska, Iowa etc. ... It is believed that they were originally headed for North Carolina, where they had bought a Plantation.
The whole family though appears to be missing prior to 1818. We have not be able to find any records of this family, prior to 1818.
Does any of this line up with and/or tie into with your Redmond / Redman research??
On my Mother’s side;
I am from a lineage of Bell's it has been hard to trace, as for some reason info. seems to be a scarcity.
My Grandfather was a William Tankard Bell (b. 23/Oct/1866, d. 18/Aug/1945), however his original name in Edinburgh, Edinburgh Parish, Midlothian, Scotland was William Bell Tankard. His father and mother were William Tankard (b. abt. 1845, d. abt. 1872) & Eliza Bell. His sisters were Sarah Jane Scott Tankard and Catherine DuncanTankard. William Tankard Bell came to Canada; a short time in Montreal, then to Watford, Ontario (about 1883/84) and finally, until his death lived in Port Stanley, Ontario.
William Tankard Sr.'s parents were William (John) Tankard and Sarah Scott. Sarah Scott eventually was married a 2nd time to a Joseph Jarvie. Sarah Scott’s parents were John Scott & Ann Gardner. Sarah & Joseph Jarvie had a son John. John Jarvie eventually married Eliza Bell when William Tankard died.
Eliza Bell was the daughter of William (John??) Bell & Mary Ann Chisholm.
William (John) Tankard was the son of Mr. Tankard and Elizabeth Ritchie.
Does any of this line up with your research ?? Have you ever came across the surname Tankard or any of the Bell's connected to my description?? or any other connection??
