Military Service: Joel enlisted Oct. 4, 1864 in Company D, Twenty-fifth Reg. Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and took part in the engagement of Honey Hill, being Honorably discharged Nov. 3, 1865.
He was a member of G.A.R. and is one of the most stirring farmers.

Occupation: Farmer, stock raiser and breeder of pure Alderney cattle.

Rented land for several years after his marriage but in 1866 purchased forty acres in Tymochetee Township By 1884 had built his farm to 256 acres.
His residence was Section 26, P.O. Address, Belle Vernon, Ohio
