Researching the family of John REEDY (1773-1853). The earliest location found is Chester, (Chester Co) SC. He served as a captain in the War of 1812 from the 1st Reg., Means, S.C.
His mother Mary (1748-1841) apparently was widowed when John was a youngster. Mary later married Hugh DONNELLY (1723-1793) whom she also outlived.

Cap't John and Jennette (BOYD) (1776-1848) had six children, William, James K., Elizabeth, Martha, John A., and Margaret. Surnames they married into include ELLIOTT, McDANIEL, HARDEN, McCLURE, WALKER and BOYD.

Some of them followed the westward movement into Alabama in the 1800ís, settling around the Dallas, Perry Co area known as Panhandle, or Moro and others into present day Cherokee Co. Surnames include LETCHER, LOCKETT, PARKER ,STOKES, MITCHELL, MORROW and STOUDENMIRE.
