I am just starting my search, but have been able to trace backwards to Nicholas Shubert in Bath County, KY, in the 1830s.

Nicholas to John to Henry W. to Mary Etta Shubert Speece to Minnie Myrtle Speece Smith, to Patricia Smith Conover, to me.

I understand Nicholas' son, John, was trained as an iron moulder in Kentucky; while another son, Louis, was the ancestor of the Shuberts of theatrical fame.

John took his family by flatboat to Madison, IN, in 1835. They were there until 1843 when they moved on to Macon County, IL. In 1873, John and his wife, Rebecca, joined their sons in Richardson County Nebraska.

I am interested in information on any other siblins of John and Louis, as well as working backwards from Nicholas. Any clues are greatfully appreciated.
