Reed Family Tree Has Many Branches of Pioneer Families

The name REED is common to many but we have documented ten generations of descendants of the pioneer British subject, John Reed, SR. of Kildress Parish, Tyrone Co., Ireland who came to Cumberland Co.,PA in about 1740.
Early maternal lines include: John Reed/Mary Brotherton, dau. of Robert Brotherton, an early settler in Pennsylvania; David Reed/Ruth Carrick, dau. of John Carrick/Margaret Long, "linen bleachers" of "Ben Burb" near Belfast, Ireland and John Reed/Nancy Morrison, dau. of James Morrison/Sarah Primrose, m. Morristown, New Jersey.

Further generations lead to George Williamson Reed/Christina Cline of Springfield, IL, dau. of George Cline/Catherine Miller, m. 1825 in Pennsylvania and Samuel Morrison Reed/Anna Kolbe, dau. of (Kolbe/Landau etc.) of Niedergude and Rockensuss, Hessen, Germany.

Robert Royce Reed of Dysart, Tama Co.,Iowa m. Ruby Bernice Reinke
in 1944.

Ruby is the dau. of Otto Reinke/Lizzie Aders, dau. of James Aders/Julia Gelarden (Gillardin), Bristow, Perry Co., Indiana.

The Aders are descendants of Peter Aders, b. 1773/Catherine Bleaker, of Virginia. The Gillardins are descendants of Jacob, b. about 1794, possibly from Rossignol, Belgium.

Julia was the dau. of Adolph Gelarden/Louisa Comstock, dau. of Daniel Comstock/Elizabeth Lanman, descended from James Lanman, b. 1752, in Fairfax Co., Virginia.

The Reinkes are descendants of Johann Reinke/Charlotte Lettow of Hermelsdorf, Pomerania, Prussia (now know as Nastazin, Poland, in Kreis Naugard) and Henrietta Rockow, b. May 4, 1826, dau. of Ernst of Schoendewolde, Pomerania, Prussia in Kreis Stolpe.

Reinke maternal lines include: Julius Reinke/Mary Anna Kirchner, dau. of Claus Kirchner/Dorothy Meyers, m. 3/11/1869 in Benton Co., Iowa. Claus was the son of Johann Kirchner, b. about 1800 in Schlesweig Holstein, Germany.
