The Tony Reese Family Page

My paternal grandfather Jacob Moses REESE (son of Baruch) was born in Minsk in 1858. He came to England towards the end of the nineteenth century, settled, married twice, and founded a clothing and cap manufacturing company REESE and BONN Ltd which made cloth caps during the First World War. The company disappeared soon after the Second World War. His second wife, my grandmother, was Matilda HYMAN, daughter of Esther nee STEPHANY.The STEPHANY and HYMAN families were in London as early as 1830, but I have not traced anything earlier.

My mother's family were Essex blacksmiths IRELAND, SUCKLING, WILLSHIRE (or WILTSHIRE). Parts of this line we have traced
back into the seventeenth century in Marks Tey, Great Tey, Chelmsford, and Chipping Ongar.

My wife's family came from Cornwall, the HAWTON family from STOKE CLIMSLAND. They farmed Duchy of Cornwall land, and our first find was a booklet written by a member of the Duchy office in 1929 who had used parish registers and other records to trace a link which probably goes back as far as 1434.

My wife's mother is Welsh and we are also tracing PRICE JONES and EVANS names in South and Mid Wales.
