All the research that has been done up to this point on our family was done by the Fox side. I will be adding all the information I have going from Rosamon to the present.

Esau was a private in the Civil War in Company K, 8th Tennessee Union Volunteers (cavalry). Following the war, he became a railroad engineer - fireman and was a member of the crew that took the first train from Knoxville to Ashville. We have heard several colorful tales fo Esau's exploits, to inclde one story that he made the regular Knoxville - Ashville run run and had a family at each end of the line. We have never been able to verify any family in North Carolina.

ONe day Esau returned from his home in Dandridge to the Edwina Community of Cocke County to vist his parents. While he was in the house, Sheriff Joe Draper rode his horse into the front yard and shouted, "Esau, I've come to get you." Esau stepped out the front door with a loaded shotgun leveled at Joe. His brother Bill knocked the gun upward and the shot went over Joe's head.
