I am currently researching the following families: Regenstreich, Kalikow, Schussler, and Feuerstein. The Schusslers came to the US from Kalush, Galicia, Austria-Hungary, beginning in 1902.Samson Aaron Schussler was the first to arrive, followed by his wife Pearl and several brothers (Joe, Oscar and Jacob or Jack).Another brother Max lived in Berlin Germany, brother Samuel died in Europe, and sister Leah died as a child also in Europe. The Kalikows came from Tetiyev, near Kiev Ukraine in the 1890s.Kalman Kalikow came first, to New York City, around 1897.He was followed by his wife Rebecca, son Samuel Martin, daughter Bertha, Rebecca's mother (Rivka or Rebecca also?) and half sister Jennie about 1899.Her mother and Jennie moved to New Hampshire with Jennie's new husband, David Baron, around 1900. The Regenstreichs left Iasy Romania some time around 1920.Marcus Regenstreich married Molly Feuerstein and moved to New York. His brothers Filip and Leon may have moved to Israel.Brother Moshe may have died in Romania during WWI, and sister Chaya Sarah died as a child. The Feuersteins left Iasy Romania throughout the early 1900s and went to New York, Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal Canada, and Israel. Anyone with matching information - please email or write.I will gladly share whatever research I have.Thanks. | Matthew A. Regen,York PA Updated September 5, 2000 |
