It lists all of James children, and the date of his death. ----------------------- Found in the Niagara Democrat, a transcription of a hand written note about James Reid. It was written by an early Niagara County historian Josh Wilber: "In our obit column today is the announcement of the death of James Reid a resident of Lockport, well and favorably known throughout Niagara County as a great horseman, he having for about 40 years, with notable success interested himself in all matters pertaining to the turf in Western N.Y. The deceased, for about 18 years has suffered from a cancer on his face. Five operations were performed on it at different times, but none of them were productive of good results save one, and for this the credit is due to Dr. Hall*, now of Tenn. He bore up under the terrible affliction with remarkable fortitude and up to about a year ago managed to be about his business. He then gave up and has since been a terrible sufferer. The manner in which the cancer did its work was horrible and death, which came to his relief Sunday, 25 Nov. 1877, about 4 o'clock must have been welcome. Mr Reid was in his 56 year, he leaves a wife and 5 children, 2 sons and 3 daughters. One son, William Reid resides in Buffalo, and one daughter, Mrs. George Burridge, resides in St Louis, Mo. The others reside in Lockport." *(From Biographical file: REID, undated clipping in Mrs. P.D. Hall's album) -----------------------
