Ralph Preston Reid (son of Asa W. Reid and Annie Fridrick Eckensperger) was born 21 Apr 1903 in Washington, Washington Co., IA, US, and died 20 Dec 1961 in Hotsprings, AR, US. He married Nadine Weiland on 24 Jun 1930 in St Patricks, Iowa City, Johnson Co., IA.

When Aunt Nadine first met Jack's sister-in-law Rose and his older brother Fred, it was when she took care of their only son Frederick after he had surgery at 2 or 3 yrs. of age. (Abt. 1924 or 25)
When Jack finished Vet. Collage at Iowa State at Ames, IA., he worked with his older brother Fred, practicing Veterinary Medicine in the town of Washington, Iowa.
Jack's Dad (Asa) lived with them until 1936 at 9th & Madison in Wash. IA.
In March 1936 they moved to Little Rock, Ark. and Jack went to work as a Veterinary Inspector for the U.S. Government. His first assignment was on a Bangs (abortion in cattle) disease program.
In Sep. 1948 Jack was sent to Old Mexico on a Aftosa (foot-and-mouth disease) program. They were there for 2 yrs. and 4 mo., living 6 month in Mexico City, 4 months in Guadalajara, 18 months in Morelia.
When they returned to Little Rock, Jack and two other Vets that had been with him in Mexico went to the Army and Navy hospital in Hot Springs for physical exams to get in the service. Jack failed due to high blood pressure and football knees. All he said to Nadine when he came in was, "You didn't know you were married to an old man."
The couple had no children.
They lived at 230 Burroughs, in Hot Springs, Ark. from 1955 till she moved in 1980. She died while in a retirement home.
