This James Reid was possibly the one who was born in Scotland. His parents had fled Scotland in the late 1600s because they opposed episcopacy, which resulted in the Covenanter Rebellion of 1679. After this battle, many Scots moved to Ulster to settle the land and seek religious freedom.
