Paulson Reiter Genealogy

Updated November 11, 2008

I am actively researching my paternal lineage. Surnames include:
BJORDAHL, BJORDAL, BREKKE, PAULSEN, PAULSON, SEVERSON
Most of my ancestors settled in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. They immigrated from Hordaland, Norway and Thisted County, Denmark.

Below is a brief excerpt from my Great-Grandmother's diary written in 1891 in Kellogg, Jasper County, Iowa. Her name is Helene Marie Paulsen and was born in Denmark in 1873. She was just 18 when she wrote these words.
"Jan. 16 Friday. Cloudy day at home baby took sick about eleven oclock thought she was dieing then but got better sent for Mrs. Christ and she stayed all night. Wade Bleakney come after me to go to church but didn’t go.
Jan. 17 Saturday. A nice day at home all day Uncle Paul (Paulson) over to see the baby she was awful bad.
Jan. 18 Sunday. This morning our or my dear little sister died about seven oclock. I was at home till in the evening Wade come on and took me to church after church we went sleigh riding clear out to Balmers.
Jan 19 Monday. A beautiful day my little sister was buried I followed her to her grave. Age 16 days."

She writes more entries until August that year, all similar in tone. Helene writes of losing another sister, Katie, who gets buried next to a brother, Henry. So much loss, would have been a hard time to live.

On my maternal lines, I have recently "completed" a 4th edition of the Klein Minney Family History (449 pages). I have included a CD with this book that contains all the photos that are in the book, as well as a few additional ones. The price of the book is $65.00 for single orders -- this includes postage and the CD. If you want to order multiple books, or if I can combine orders with others, the price will be as low as $50.00 per book/CD. Finally, if you would like just the CD, it is $10.00.
Orders should be emailed to me using the subject "Klein-Minney Booklet". I will send you my address and then make the shipment once payment has been received.

I hope to focus on the Christensen-Jeppesen line soon.
