      7. Kari Helgesdatter, born Bet. 1830 - 1831 in Fjoringen i Omvik, Kvinnherad Parish, Norway; died in Newark, Illinois. She was the daughter of 14. Helge Kristoferson and 15. Soffi Ostensdtr Ysteinsdatter.

Notes for Ole Severson:
The 1865 Census records of Fjelbertg show Ole born in Kivvenherad Parish.
Kivvenherad Parish records, volume 5, Fjelberg Sokner state that the family lived in Fjelberg Aalund Annex before immigrating, but Ole was born on Fet indre farm #2 Aasen. In volume 3, farm #112 Fet indre, house #2 Asen (on page 533) lists c. Olav, 1820- got married 1851 to Kari Helgesdotter of Omvik ie tid pa Innbjoa, seinare till USA. Olav was son of Sjur Tomasson Gjerde 1788-1820 who married in 1815 Inger Olsdotter of Fe, feste Under-Aas and younges child. Oldest was Anna who went to America, and Marta born 1818 married Anders H. Varanes and also went to USA.

"In 1870 the bark Lesseps departed from Bergen on May 4th, and arrived at Quebec on June 10th. She was sailing in ballast, and was carrying 300 steerage passengers and 4 cabin passengers. There were two deaths on the voyage, a man aged 74 died of pneumonia, and a child from the effects of a fall. The Lesseps was mastered by Capt. N. Hansen, and had a crew of 18."
