Silas A. Lamphere was born Aug 10, 1843 in "Keokuk County" (Cayuga) NY of Welsh parentage. He resided in the state of New York until he was 14 years of age when he moved with his parents to Wisconsin locating neat Easton. When the Civil War broke out he was among the first to enlist, serving his country for about 4 years at the end of which time he was honorably discharged and returned to WI where he took up his residence at White Creek where he married Mrs. Arvilla Dewey in the year 1884., Mr Lamphere passed to the Great Beyond Jan 21 at Grand Marsh. Interment in the family lot at the Easton Cemetery.
FROM HIS STATEMENT FOR HIS PENSION: I herby certify that the statement made below is true. I have tried to show in the Bible, or with any member of out family. I was living with my Father, Lindon M Lamphear and mother, Charlott C. Lamphear in the year of 1850. We lived in Cayuga County, NY. In Aug, 1850 we moved to Wisconsin, County of Dane, Town of Oregon, WI. We lived there in Oregon until 1855. We then moved to Adams County, Town of Easton, WI until I enlisted in the Army, March 11, 1862. My house was with my parents up to 1862. Sworn and Subscribed.........17 Day of Nov, 1913.
